Starling Facts:
Starlings are protein eaters, you will usually not see them at seed feeders because they can not crack the shells to get to the seed
Summer Starlings will digest hundreds of destructive insects, such as the Japanese Beetle, off your lawn everyday
Starlings are able to mimic the sounds of their surroundings, even human voices
There are many individuals out there that keep Starlings as pets, some are known to live up to 21 years in captivity
NEVER GIVE A BABY BIRD WATER!
0-18 Days - very dependant, sprizting with luke warm water will promote preening, towards 2 weeks you can introduce a shallow bowl of water for drinking and bathing
21 days - Start to fly
4-7 weeks - Will try to scavage for own food, tend to start being independent (Teenagers! but you can still 'hide' food for them to find, then we're both happy)
7-12 weeks - all grown up! will start leaving the nest
20 weeks - adult feathers. Soon after look out they start making their own song and don't be suprised if you hear your voice in there!
